School Psychologist (Elementary) - Anticipated

Title: School Psychologist (Elementary) 

Start Date: August 25, 2026

Pay scale: Based on the NBTA Contract  

Description: North Bellmore is seeking a smart and energetic School Psychologist to collaborate with teachers and other personnel to create a healthy and supportive learning environment for students.  The School Psychologist is expected to effectively communicate the students’ needs and plans, socially, mentally, emotionally and academically, with teachers, staff, administrators and families.  They are an integral member of the Early Intervention Team (EIT) for their building(s) and serve as a support to teachers, support staff, paraprofessionals and administrators.  The School Psychologist will report directly to their building principal(s) and to the Director of Special Education.   

Expectations

  • Uphold legal requirements and IDEA regulations, NYSED Part 200 & 201, and Section 504 regulations 
  • Assist in the compliance and submission of all NYS Special Education State Performance Plan requirements
  • Chair meetings of the Committee on Special Education and Section 504 meetings, and complete all necessary plan documents
  • Provide evidence-based group and individual counseling to students with IEPs, Section 504 Plans, and building-level counseling services
  • Complete psychological evaluations and write integrated reports to be presented at CSE meetings
  • Develop detailed and thorough IEPs 
  • Collaborate actively on developing and implementing students’ IEPs; review and discuss student issues, profiles, and progress with the Early Intervention Team members
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, other related service personnel, and outside providers
  • Provide direct intervention and counseling to students on demand and/or in crisis situations
  • Monitor and assist providers with IEP writing, development, and implementation  
  • Review all referrals for appropriateness and ensure referrals are processed in a timely manner in accordance with District procedures 
  • Observe students during the school year to ensure the proper program/services are in place 
  • Assist families through ongoing communication and support; work with parents / guardians of special needs students; assist parents and guardians in understanding the academic needs of their children 
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and leadership qualities to work effectively with all stakeholders
  • Maintain effective time management skills and is dependable in carrying out assigned responsibilities 
  • Perform any other duties as assigned 

Requirements:  

  • Master’s Degree, required
  • PsyD, preferred
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a school psychologist, required
  • Appropriate NYS School Psychologist License/Certification  
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, NYS regulations, and expertise in supporting students with diverse needs  
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, community members, and staff members

PT Typist Clerk - Food Services

12-Month Part-Time Position in an elementary school district, K-6 

Hours: 8 AM - 12 PM, Monday–Friday

This position will directly support the Food Services Department.

Salary: Starting at $22.59/hour
