REPORTS TO: Director of School Facilities, Building Administrators, Assistant

Superintendent for Business, and Head Custodian

 

PAY SCALE: CSEA Contract, Starting Salary $41,666

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Under direct supervision, the duties require the use of limited judgment in performing unskilled work cleaning and caring for public buildings; employees in this class are responsible for the cleanliness of a section of a school building assigned to them, performing unskilled maintenance duties, and other laboring tasks. 

 

TYPICAL DUTIES: 

 

  • Sweeps, mops, washes walls, dusts, empties waste baskets and disposes of rubbish, handles towels and other cleaning supplies, waxes floors, washes windows and blackboard, and assists in cartage of supplies and equipment

  • Sets up and removes furniture for special affairs 

  • Secures windows and doors after cleaning assigned areas 

  • Removes snow or rakes leaves in immediate vicinity of buildings 

  • Paints areas not requiring specific painting skills and/or knowledge 

  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning operations 

  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions 

  • Ability to perform unskilled maintenance tasks 

  • Other duties as assigned

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent

Part-time Reading Teacher

Title: Part-time Reading Teacher 

Pay scale: $40.00 -$60.00/Hourly Rate (Benefits not included)

  • $60.00/hour - Candidates certified in a multisensory approach (i.e., Wilson and/or Orton-Gillingham).

  • $40.00/hr. - Candidates without certification in a multisensory approach.

Hours: Monday-Friday, Up to 4 hours daily

Expectations:   

  • Training in the Wilson and/or OG approach (preferred) 

  • Knowledge of language development, the reading process, and the components of reading performance to assess and instruct  

  • Plan and implement sequential learning experiences for students aligned with the Wilson approach, consistent with the district philosophy, mission statement, instructional goals, and the NYS Standards  

  • Evidence of the use of student data, running records and other assessment tools to guide instruction; interpret information from both formal and informal assessments for planning instruction  

  • Maintain communication with parents on an ongoing basis  

  • Record and report student attendance 

  • Other duties, as assigned Requirements:  

Required - NYS Certification in Reading OR Literacy OR SWD

Preferred (not required):

  • Orton Gillingham Classroom or Associate Level Certifications- Obtained or In-Progress

Speech Teacher- Elementary Leave Replacement

Title: Speech and Language Pathologist - Elementary Leave Replacement

Pay scale: Based on the NBTA Contract 

Start Date: February 2026 (daily sub. opportunity available immediately)

End Date: June 2026

Description: North Bellmore is seeking a smart and energetic Speech and Language Pathologist to provide therapeutic support to children in our K-6 elementary schools within a Leave Replacement capacity. The Speech Pathologist is expected to conduct progress monitoring as per student IEPs, review student progress, and modify intervention programs as needed. Clinical reasoning and sound professional judgment are essential when providing services such as: screenings, evaluations, academic interventions, educational programs, transition planning, and therapeutic interventions for students with disabilities. Speech Pathologists regularly collaborate with other disciplines and services at departmental and system levels and report to the building principal(s) and the Director of Special Education.  

Expectations: 

  • Provide a therapeutic program to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities 
  • Provide speech and language therapy and evaluations for language, auditory processing disorder, articulation, and voice fluency 
  • Plan effectively to provide instruction which has optimal function and supports student engagement in meaningful activities
  • Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments 
  • Provide screening to identify speech-impaired children at regular intervals and at specified levels 
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to offer suggestions for the student's daily activities 
  • Provide support to families, and collaborate with other disciplines, as needed to address goals and objectives as indicated in each student's IEP, 504 or accommodation plan   
  • Keep thorough ongoing records and data collection for the individual students receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services; maintain appropriate documentation regarding student services and subsequent needs 
  • Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement  
  • Participate in EIT (Early Intervention Team) Meetings, 504 Meeting and Committee on Special Education meetings  
  • Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments, and functional communication 
  • Participate in RtI and data meetings, as needed 
  • Utilize behavior management techniques 
  • Write thorough and comprehensive evaluation reports, annual review reports, and progress reports 
  • Develop appropriate individualized IEP goals based on student needs 
  • Prepare case notes for Medicaid-eligible students 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal(s), Executive Director of Pupil Personnel and Special Education or their designee(s)Services, the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee 

   

Requirements:  

  • Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders 
  • Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities certification  
  • Experience administering and scoring various assessments of speech and language including, but not limited to: CELF-3/4/5, TOLD, Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation, TACL, TAPS, PAT, CTOPP  
  • PROMPT Therapy experience, preferred but not required  
  • Knowledge of iPad programming, preferred but not required  
  • Knowledge of oral-sensory-motor exercises, preferred but not required 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, community members, and staff members 

Employment Term: This is a regular substitute/leave replacement position.

This position will directly support the NYS Director of Facilities III and buildings and grounds personnel.

Hours: 10:45am-1:45pm, daily or as needed and when school is in session

 

PayScale: $20.79/hr if hired part-time; $17.71/hr if hired as a sub

 

Description: North Bellmore is seeking part-time and part-time substitute food service workers for the 2025-2026 school year. Food service workers report directly to the Director of Food Services and the building principal.

 

Expectations:

  • Basic knowledge of the proper method of serving food

  • Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of sanitation and personal hygiene as applied to the preparation and serving of food

  • Ability to use and care for food service equipment and appliances

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

  • Ability to perform physical activity of position

Daily Substitute Teacher
  • Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
  • Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment

  • Ensure child safety in hallways and on stairs
